  No Place Like Home
Jennie Stagliano, Editor

Dorothy Gale had the right idea. There's no place like it. It's where the heart is. I fully subscribe to these sentiments, which makes me the consummate homebody. Truth is, at the end of a long day's work, I'd rather be home than anywhere, including soccer practice.

At week's end I'll be heading to Italy with my husband where I fully expect to become enamored with the people, their culture, art and food. After 42 years I know myself all to well to know that by mid-week a familiar pain will begin to settle in my soul, and I'll begin to miss my family and home. I also fully expect to be more excited to return than I was to depart.

There's no place like home, especially this time of year, so in this issue we've put together some festive projects and holiday entertaining ideas designed to make your home lovelier.

From my wonderful home to yours...Happy Holidays!

  Repairing a Treasured Book
Jennie Stagliano

Recently my dad gave me my grandmother's bible. I'm an old softy at heart, and was moved to receive the book, which was highly revered by the retired missionary. The gold ink displaying her name, which, because of a shared birthday was my name prior to my marriage, was still intact.

However, the outer cover along the binding edge of the book had separated from the inner pages. Concerned the problem would grow and further compromise the books structural integrity, I reached for Continuous Glue Lines® to put the cover back in place. A hot melt or liquid glue would have damaged the delicate onion-skin pages.

To repair the binding edge, I applied the Continuous Glue Lines® to the inside edge and cut to the desired length. Using my finger, I burnished the clear plastic covering so the Glue Lines® transferred to the pages, removed the plastic covering, folded over the outside cover and applied pressure to create the bond.

  Red Pepper Santas

Here's a hot holiday project both you and your kids will enjoy making for either your holiday tree or to give as gifts. Once the red peppers have been dehydrated, kids can paint the faces and attach the eyes and nose using Mini Glue Dots®.

For the safety of kids and pets, we strongly recommend using sweet red peppers not Habaneras for this project and that food dehydrators are operated by an adult.

Visit the project gallery for a list of supplies and instructions.

  Holiday Entertaining

Here are a couple of holiday entertaining ideas.

1) If your party plans include buffet-style serving, consider making buffet serving cards with the name of the dish and displaying the cards next to the food item. That way guests know what they're serving up. Click for instructions.

2) Fill a cut glass or crystal bowl full of old family photos. Family and guests will enjoy looking through and sharing the photos. Not only is the display visually interesting, it's a great way to keep people entertained between dinner and football games.
